Tech Sunday - Words and Numbers

Since I skipped 4 weeks of Tech Sundays, I thought I would throw in an extra one this week.

I thought I would share something else that I did on my customer's T-shirt quilt.  I used my Quilt Path to quilt the year she graduated.   I can see all kinds of ways to use this feature.  Names, places, etc.  And they come out wonderful!

From the Pattern screen select the Plugins button on the top right and the chose Font.  Type in what you want.  On the bottom left you will see the font that is being used.  You can click the + and - buttons to scroll through the fonts. I love this because it will change what you have typed and you can see what your word will look like.

I can see me using this feature often!

  1. I'm about to try this. When you place the design "name" do you use a 4 point block placement?

    1. I think you could use either 2 point or 4 point placement. 4 point might skew the words a little more if the space was really wonky, but it if is pretty straight, I don't think you would see a difference.

  2. I am trying to use this to quilt words on a quilt but I can't seem to get the stitching lines between the letters to go away, help!

    1. Tee,

When you are quilting letters you do not want to remove all of the jump stitches. Because the lines are not continuous you will need to trim the jumpstitches between the letters. If you remove all, it is putting quilted lines in where the jumpstitches used to be.
