Big News

I have some big news that I have been waiting to share. Are you ready....

I just became a dealer for APQS Longarm Quilting machines.

So, if you have been wondering about the big smile on my face for the past couple of weeks the secret is out. :)

Leaving Kansas

Well it has been a long week. I have made new friends, learned new techniques, bought new toys and had too much fun. I will be leaving Kansas and heading home this afternoon. I can't believe that I have been here for a week.

I took classes with DeLoa Jones, Pam Clarke, Sue Patten, Dawn Cavanaugh and Dr. Bob. I also took an APQS Maintainence class with Amy Anderson. I think my mind is about to explode. My longarm better have rested up while I was here, because I can't wait to get home and get to work.

The next two weeks will be very busy for me. I will be taking some more classes, going to guild and getting some customer quilts done. NC Symposium is also coming up and I will be helping one of the vendors, so if you are in the area, stop by and say hi at the Ye Olde Forest booth.

Machine Quilters Showcase

This is my first chance to spend any time on my computer since arriving in Kansas. I have taken classes and met new longarm friends. I scheduled this afternoon as down time and I need it!

The classes have been fabulous!!!! It is amazing the number of AH HA moments that can happen. I am looking forward to getting back to my machine and using some of the new things I have learned.

Now if I can just figure out how to get all my purchases in my suitcase....

Practical Practice

After quilting Sara and Molly's quilts, I decided that I wanted to get a little practice in on some small border designs. The machine was already loaded with the bright variegated King Tut, so I loaded some black fabric and started to play with some different designs.
I make my own purses, my favorite pattern is the Town Purse by Lazy Girl Designs. My current purse is falling apart, the fabric is literally worn out and the zipper has decided that it no longer wants to zip. Since I am getting on a plane this weekend I need a purse that actually closes. So, this is what I made out of my practice cloth...
Here is a picture of the back.
So until I wear this purse out I will have a sample of my quilting with me.

Molly's Quilt

My friend, Theresa, also made a quilt for her niece Molly. Molly's quilt has a pink backing with hearts on in, so I quilted the quilt with loops and hearts. I used King Tut thread in variegated brights on the top and pink thread in the bobbin.

Here is a close up of the quilting...
Finally a picture of the completed quilt.
I am going to work on the labels this evening. I really want to have these quilts on there way back to Florida before I leave for MQS this weekend.
